Spring Shoes at Newlook

Hello!

I'm desperately longing for Spring to make a proper appearance. The cold, wet weather and the need for coats and boots is getting a little tiring now. Don't get me wrong, I know it's not going to turn into shorts weather over night, but if it could just warm up enough for a scarf not to be a daily essential I would be so happy!

My spring wardrobe is pretty lacking at the moment, especially when it comes to shoes! I own a lot of boots, I own a lot of summer sandals but anything between these two seems to be kind of non existent. I desperately need to add a couple of staple spring shoes to my wardrobe and then I'll be happy (Not that I think I could ever own enough shoes, but you get the gist!)

Spring Shoes at Newlook

When it comes to shoes New Look always deliver for me. They have such a huge range that there's definitely something for everyone and every style. Not to mention that they have amazingly reasonable prices yet that quality is second to none. They're always my first stop when I'm looking for a some news shoes and even if I don't find exactly what I'm looking for, I always leave with a huge wishlist! Peeptoes and chunky heels are my absolute favourite at the moment, I just can't get enough of them. I think they're a perfect way of wearing a heel causally and  keeping a dressed down look, but still with the height. Peeptoe boots make a fantatsic transition from Winter to Spring and the chunky heeled sandals are perfect for those warmer days. I think everyone needs a pair of 'ugly shoes' in their wardrobe and I've been really drawn towards the white brogue style shoe. The addition of the slingback gives them a great quirky edge!

Have you spotted any great Spring shoe finds recently?

Review - Colab Dry Shampoo

Hello!

I like to think of myself as a kind of high street dry shampoo connoisseur. There honestly isn't many I haven't tried, and whenever I see a new one, it's straight in to my basket. Very few have won me over though because of they just really don't deliver and I'm normally just go back to my old friend, Batiste. When Ruth Crilly announced the launch of her dry shampoo line, Colab, I did a little silent squeal of excitement. Her video about the launch made me want to run out and buy it there and then. It was clearly a product that had been created with a lot of thought and consideration. It was basically everything I wanted from a dry shampoo and more!

Colab Dry Shampoo

Colab Dry Shampoo

All together there are five scents in the Colab Dry Shampoo range and Tokyo is by far my favourite. It's girly, sweet and fresh, an absolutely perfect scent for this time of year and keeps your locks smelling fresh all day. It's just divine. The formula itself is extremely lightweight and has a real 'barely there' feel. Having quite dark hair I quite often find that dry shampoos leave a kid of white sheen to my hair, making it very apparent that I've used it. However, Colab does no such thing. It's completely and utterly invisible in the hair. No white sheen, no powdery look, no mattifying finish.

I tend to reach out for a dry shampoo when my hair is on it's third or forth day and in need of a bit of a pick me up. By these days it's usually looking a little limp and lacking in volume. To give my hair that much needed boost I've been using it directly on the roots and then throughout the lengths to create texture, which works wonders! It's honestly so lightweight but 100% does the job. It gets rid of any slightly greasy areas that form (perils of having fine hair) and puts the volume back in. Oh, and as it's completely invisible you don't even need to brush it out, just a quick ruffle with your fingers and jobs done! For a dry shampoo that only retails at £3.49 it's a must have hair product!

Have you tried out this dry shampoo yet?

Flawless Work Makeup

Hello!

Makeup has always been the part of my morning routine that takes the longest. I love trying out new products and new looks, meaning I can easily spend half an hour messing about with eye shadows and not even realise. However, when I'm getting up for work in the morning I'd much rather have an extra half an hour in bed (cos really, who wouldn't), so I just go for products that I know and love! My work face makeup routine is all about getting a flawless, long lasting base and making myself look awake enough to avoid the dreaded 'you look tired' comments.

For the base I start off with my beloved Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24 Hour Foundation. Not only is it quite and easy to apply but it also always blends in well with a brush, so you don't have to faff around for ages making it look seamless. It has a kind of velvet matte finish, without being cakey or drying. Best of all it lasts the entire day and still looks as fresh after a 9 hour shift as it did in the morning. To brighten my eyes I go in with the ever famous YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch which is great for concealing and brightening my tired eyes. It doesn't crease or shift throughout the day and definitely earns it's high status (and price tag!). To set that all in place I use No 7's transparent loose powder with a big fluffy brush. It does the job without making the base look heavy and still allows a natural glow to shine through!

For my eyes I always start off with the Urban Decay Primer Potion to keep everything in place. I normally switch up my eye shadows between shimmery and matte depending on how I feel but I always stick with my Naked 2 and Naked Basics 2 as they contain my go to shades, keeping it pretty simple though! For eyeliner and mascara I always stick with what I know, Soap and Glory! The eyeliner is creamy, pigmented and doesn't give the dreaded panda eye and the mascara does exactly what you want from a mascara. I'm constantly raving about the Soap and Glory mascaras because they never let me down!

My brows are probably the area I spend the most time on when I do my makeup purely because I'm a little obsessive when it comes to their shape and making sure they look even (I know people say 'brows are sisters, not twins' but uneven brows annoy the hell out of me!). To get a defined shape I use another Soap and Glory cult product, Archery, and keep it all in place with the Maybelline Brow Drama.

To finish off the look I contour and highlight, being ever hopeful that defined cheekbones will stop people thinking I'm 18! I use my very well loved Nars Laguna Bronzer underneath my cheekbones to give that defined look and then blend it upwards to warm up my face. If you're gonna splash out on a high end bronzer, Nars is worth every penny. Lastly, I highlight with MAC's famous Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle because it's just so bloody pretty, not only in the pan, but when applied to the face as well!

(Oh, and on the way in I normally stick on whatever lippy is in my bag because I always forget when I'm in the house, aha!)
