Heroes for Skin Redness

Hello!

One of my main skin concerns is my redness. It's horrible and I'm extremely self conscious about it. It's actually one of the main reasons why I wear foundation and I long for the day where I can get away with wearing a light coverage, barely there foundation. It doesn't take much to set it off. If I use a product that doesn't agree with my sensitive skin or go out in harsh winds I end up looking like a beetroot! On days where my redness is really bad you can see it peeking through a layer or two of Estee Lauder Double Wear. Being a hater of thick, cakey foundation it's one of those things I have to grin and bare (or wear a distracting smokey eye or bold lip) but luckily I've found a few products that our saviors to my bad skin days;

Skin Products for Rosacea

REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk is a cleanser I just can't live without. I never hesitate to buy a replacement! It's super gentle, moisturising and feels nourishing on the skin with a really luxurious scent and feel which I never tire of. I won't waffle on too much as I wrote a detailed review of it  here, but I absolutely adore it and it does wonders to my skin, especially when it's feeling a bit irritated.

A-Derma is a skincare brand you must try if you have easily irritated/sensitive skin or suffer with any kind of redness. They have products suited to any skin type that suffers with these issues and they make truly lovely products that work. The A-Derma Rheacalm Light Soothing Cream* is a moisturiser I go to when my skin is looking red, irritated and in need of a bit of TLC. I hate creams that hang around too long on the surface and this is lightweight and sinks in super quick. It's not a miracle product and it doesn't make my redness disappear but it definitely helps!

I love The Body Shop for skincare and the Aloe Calming Toner is a product I always make sure I have in my stash. I talked about this before in a post about blemishes because it's great to have at hand when your skin is a little 'arghhh'. It helps to soothe and add much needed moisture but doesn't contain any acids, alcohol or anything nasty so it's a nice treat for your skin. I love this stuff when I've had a bad reaction to a product because it feels so lovely and cooling.

When it comes to skincare for sensitive skin the French brands always have it spot on and Avene is a firm favourite of mine. Their soothing moisture mask is actually the first hydrating mask I've tried that hasn't made my skin beetroot red and it doubles up as a great 'lazy skincare' product too. It's a leave on mask so I just apply a good layer after cleansing and toning at night and by morning I have wonderfully clear, calm and hydrated skin. Easy! I was a little worried about waking up looking like a greasy mess but it really sinks in and leaves you with baby smooth skin. My redness is always virtually gone in the mornings after using this. Avene, you've impressed me again!

When it comes to foundation I can never (of should I say could never) find a light coverage foundation that would hide my redness. I always have to go full coverage which at times can be a bit like wearing a mask. However, the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream is absolutely amazing at hiding all the horrid redness on my face without making me look like I'm really wearing about foundation. It apparently contains special pigments to blur redness and really works!

Last but not least is a sneaky American product that I just couldn't miss out. Physicians Formula Physicians Strength Concealer in Soft Green is a Godsend for dimming down my redness before I apply my foundation. If you haven't tried a green concealer before, you must! This one is creamy, pigmented and has absolutely amazing coverage but isn't heavy or cakey at all. Oh, and a little goes a really long way! I dread the day this product runs out because it's a staple in my daily makeup routine.

What's your skin concern?
