Handbag Beauty Essentials

When you look inside my handbag the phrase 'everything but the kitchen sink' instantly springs to mind. I can't help it. I'm very much one of those but I might need that kinds of people, despite me never using the majority of the things I carry around. My bag is pretty much storage for my own personal pharmacy, lipstick collection, more lip balms than a human could ever need and a grand collection of miscellaneous receipts dating back months. Anyway, not all of the things I carry around go completely unused. Here are my handbag beauty essentials...

Handbag Beauty Essentials

First up is my Vitamin E Face Mist from The Body Shop, a true must have product for anyone with dry skin, especially this time of year. The vitamin E range from the body shop is a collection I love and this product doesn't disappoint. I use it before applying my moisturiser, after applying my makeup and throughout the day to keep my makeup looking fresh and my skin soft. As it comes in a 100ml spray bottle it's bag friendly and takes up barely any room. It's a must when working in a environment with aircon and I always feel a little lost when it's not it my bag.

I always keep a lipbalm close to hand as I have awfully dry lips and my Nivea Milk and Honey balm is lovely. It's moisturising yet lightweight and works well for putting over the top of a lipstick so it doesn't dry your lips out throughout the day. Also, the wonderfully natural scent of the balm isn't bad either!

Hand cream is another absolute must have product in my handbag. That horrible, rough feeling dry hands get completely creeps me out so something to fix that is utterly essential. At the moment I'm using a L'Occitane cream in a lovely rose scent which soaks in really quickly and doesn't hang around leaving your hands feeling greasy. I have a backlog of hand creams waiting to be used so when this one runs out I won't be without one.

It's fair to say that half my lipstick collection lives in my bag, completely unintentionally of course. They just sort of build up until there's none left in my muji storage and far too many in my bag, whoops! I always like to keep a couple of essential 'just in case' shades in my bag such as my beautiful Bobby Brown lippy in Bare Pink and more often that not a statement red (because you never know when you might need one!) and of course the lippy I'm wearing that day.

My last handbag essential is my Babara Daly powder brush, which is always in my bag despite me never actually carrying any powder around. I actually use this to blend out any creases that appear in my foundation throughout the day so my makeup always looks fresh. I probably should get a retractable one so it's a little more hygienic but I do keep this one in it's own little pocket!
