Autumn Skincare Additions

Hello!

The change in weather has really been effecting my skin lately. A combination of cold, windy days and central heating has left me with dull, dry and slightly congested skin. Foundation didn't seem to be sitting right, primer wasn't helping and I could tell my skincare routine needed a bit of a boost to help my skin get through the winter months. I opted for a couple of new additions to my skincare routine, to give my skin that boost it's currently craving, as well as a couple of products to replace what I'd been using throughout summer.

Autumn Skincare Additions - Nip + Fab, Vichy and Avene

I got the Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Pads (£12.99) to replace my Clearasil Superfruit Pads that had recently ran out. My skin was really in need of a stronger acid/exfoliating toner to help prep it for the moisturising treatments I use in the evening and hopefully make it look a bit brighter. Although I have sensitive skin, I much prefer acid exfoliation to using scrubs or exfoliating cleansers. I just find it's a lot more effective and actually much more gentle on my skin that scrubs. The Nip + Fab pads are really lovely. The pads are super soft (unlike the Clearasil ones), well saturated in product and work wonders. My skin is always really smooth after using these, plus it always leaves my skin feeling hydrated. At the moment I'm only using them in the evening, and using a weaker acid in the morning, because I'm finding that once a day with these is really effective. I will be doing a full review once I've used them for a few more weeks so look out for that!

Also from Nip + Fab I got the Dark Circle Fix Eye Cream (£15.99). I didn't actually need a new eye cream but I suffer from seriously bad dark circles and, as it was on offer at half price, I couldn't resist. It has a really thick, and almost wax like, texture. It's brilliant to give the skin around my eyes the moisture it needs but I still can't tell if it's helping with my dark circles just yet!

Vichy Normaderm Hydrating Care (£12) is sort of like a Vichy's own version of the blogger loved La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo. Although I think it's meant to be a day cream, I got this to use as my night time moisturiser, to try and brighten my skin and prevent it looking so congested. It's designed to target imperfection prone skin without drying it out, so it's  perfect for this time of year. So far I'm really liking it as it's moisturising without being too heavy or leaving an unpleasant residue. My skin always looks bright and feels smooth after a night of using it. I would definitely recommend it if you have blemish prone, dry skin.

Lastly, I picked up the Avene Soothing Moisture Mask (£12), because moisturising masks are a must for us dry skinned girls! When I first got this I wasn't too sure if it was worth the money, as you only get 50ml, but I've used it twice and barely made a dint in it! It's a little different from most masks, as you don't actually wash it off, but instead just wipe away the residue after 10/15 minutes of it being on. Because of this I've only used it before bed, using toner before and then carrying on with my normal skincare routine after the mask has soaked in. It's a really lovely mask and my skin always feels great after using it! I can see this being holy grail throughout winter!

I'm currently looking for a couple of new cleansers so leave me with your thoughts!

    1. I love the brand. I've tried a few different things from them and they never disappoint! The French skincare brands never fail to get it right!

  2. Interesting. Can you just leave the Avene mask on overnight without wiping off the excess? Or do you need to wipe off because if you don't you wake up with a greasy face?

    1. I'm not too sure tbh. I always wipe off the excess but I never cleanse or anything after, just stick on my oil and moisturiser. In all honesty my skin absorbs a lot of what I put on so there is never much excess left. Hope that helps!
