Review - Clearasil Superfruits Refreshing Pads

Hello!

Clearasil has always been a brand I've bypassed in Boots or the supermarket. I find they focus themselves very much towards skin prone to breakouts and, as I am lucky enough to rarely get a blemish, I didn't see them as a brand that would suit my skin. Not only that, but I've also been very put off by the packaging. It's just a brand that has never appealed to me. However, the Superfruits Refreshing Pads were recently mentioned by Caroline Hirons as a great budget acid toner and this was enough to send me to Boots to pick up a tub!

The tub actually says they're to cleanse and exfoliate but I use them purely as an acid/exfoliating toner after I've done my morning and evening cleanse. The tub contains 65 pads, saturated in a liquid (I doubt they would dry up in a hurry!), and should last a good month if you use them twice a day. The liquid product that coats the pads contains salicylic acid and citric acid for a gentle acid tone that also helps to fight blemishes. I'm always a bit wary of trying new toners as I never know if they're going to be a bit harsh on my sensitive skin but I've been using them twice a day with no issues on that front! Before I forget, I must mention the lovely berry scent you get with this product, yum! The little pads work really well at exfoliating my skin and I must admit I much prefer using acid toners to a facial scrub, I find they're much more gentle on my skin and they don't irritate my redness. I haven't noticed a visible change in my skin but it does keep it lovely and smooth. The only issue I've found with the Clearasil Superfruits Refreshing Pads is that they surface of the pads can be a bit abrasive and rough. If the liquid came in a little bottle and I could use it with my own cotton pads it would be an absolutely amazing budget toner!

Although I probably won't repurchase this product do to the abrasive nature of the pads trying them out has really opened by eyes to a new brand and I'll definitely be trying out some more products from Clearasil!

  1. ooh I might well pick these up, I do suffer from blemishes and luckily my skin isn't too sensitive (apart from my eyes, which are super bad) so maybe it'll be alright for me. I'm sorry they didn't work for you though, but still, it's kind of given you new budget brand to check out!

  2. These sound great despite being harsh, they are a great product and I am little TOO rough with my skin anyway ;) Plus the breakouts are bad at the mo :( xxx

  3. I used to use their original pads, I know what you mean about abrasive! These sound lovely, and so cheap! I might get them when my exfoliating toner runs out :)
