My Favourite Summer Base Combination

I'm not usually one to blow my own trumpet but, at the North West Bloggers event in Liverpool, I got a lot of compliments about my skin and how flawless my makeup was so, I thought I'd give you a little sneak peak in to what base products I use to give a radiant flawless base that doesn't slip and slide in the heat!

Estee Lauder Doublwear Foundation and Dior Airflash CC Primer

I'm not lucky enough to be blessed with skin that gives me the confidence to wear a very light coverage in the summer, so I generally opt for something full coverage. It can be a little tricky to find a full coverage base that doesn't look too 'there' and doesn't feel heavy on the skin, but I think I've finally cracked it! On warmer days I tend to go for foundations with a matte finish, despite my dry skin, as I find they work better with heat and humidity because, lets face it, no one wants their makeup slip and sliding in the heat! However, I also want to look radiant and healthy, which can sometimes be taken away my matte foundations!

I recently discovered the Dior Airflash CC Primer and really love it! It's very different from other primers I've tried, being a spray formula, but it has a lovely pearlescent finish which leaves my skin glowing! It's a really pretty product. There are two ways it can be applied, either directly to the face or sprayed on to the hand first. I prefer to spray it straight on to my face and gently pat it is as it's much easier and gives a more even distribution. It looks so pretty when on the skin, really helps to even out skin tone and gives a beautiful healthy glow. I can't get enough of it!

Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation is a product I seem to have a love hate relationship with. In winter I absolutely hate wearing it day to day. It just doesn't work with my skin and ends up looking very dry and dull. However, in summer I can't get enough of it. It seems to have a bit of s stigma as being a heavy, full coverage foundation but I don't find it feels heavy at all. It covers all my imperfections, such as my redness, but still looks natural and went teamed with the Dior primer looks really radiant. I love applying it with my blending sponge as it just gives a flawless finish and adds a little moisture in too. A lovely thing about this foundation is, as it's semi matte, it doesn't slip or slide in the heat. The combination of the Dior Primer and Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation gives a beautiful finish that's perfect for summer!

  1. Wow, I actually didn't think your foundation was double wear as it didn't look heavy at all, usually double wear looks really thick and layered no matter how well I've seen it applied! Your skin looked great, really flawless and natural! :)
