Nakd Bars - Healthy Breakfasts and Snacks

Hello!

Hope you're all well!

When I'm off out early in the mornings I rarely have time for breakfast and if I do it's normally a slice of toast or two, nothing too healthy. I then chuck a bottle of water in my bag and off I go, normally not eating until lunch.

Nakd Bars - Healthy Breakfasts and Snacks

I decided I was in real need of some natural food breakfasts that were quick and easy for these early mornings and was sent some lovely Nakd* bars to try! In all honesty I have always avoided these when seeing them in shops as their main ingredient are dates, which I absolutely hate, but I decided it was time to bite the bullet and give these healthy little bars a go! They come in a wide variety of flavours and I'm you'll find at least one that takes your fancy. If you're a nut lover there is 'cashew cookie' and 'pecan pie'. For the chocoholics there is 'cocoa mint' and 'cocoa orange', both of which are my absolute favourites. If you love fruity flavours 'berry delight' might be for you and for anyone who loves a gingerbread man I decide you give the 'gingerbread' bar a go!

What's great about these little bars is that they're made from 100% natural ingredients and are 100% vegan. They're also wheat and gluten free and made mainly from pressed fruits and nuts which makes them super healthy! The dates add substance to the bar, as well as natural sweetness. If you hate dates as much as me don't panic because you literally cannot taste them at all as they're over powered by all the other yummy ingredients. I've been completely won over by these little bars and have been throwing them in my bag most mornings for a lovely healthy, and on the go, breakfast!

Another trip to Chester zoo

Hello!

On Friday me and my boyfriend spent that day at Chester zoo. At uni I live only a 10 minute bus ride from the zoo and my course entitles me to a free annual pass which is super handy. It was a little bit of a chilly day which meant there wasn't too many visitors there and I didn't have to push through crowds to get pictures. I couldn't help but notice the amount of parents that take their child to the zoo yet fail to educate them when it comes to the animals! One parent pointed to a Tropical Tree Shrew in it's enclosure and told her child to 'look at the squirrel' when the species information was right in front of her! I really think people would have a greater understanding on wild animals and endangered species if they just took the time to read information signs and educated themselves a little rather than looking at the animal and moving on to the next enclosure. I love going to the zoo and watching each animal for a few minutes, looking at it's behaviours and the way it moves. Anyway, enough of my rambles, he's some pictures from the day!

TAG - My Furry Friend

Hello!

I saw this lovely TAG over on Girl About Town and considering I adore dogs and I'm currently studying BSc Animal Behaviour and Welfare I thought it would be a perfect tag for me to do!

What is your pet's name?
Cody! He was actually named Ben when we got him mum since my Grandparents dog was named Ben we decided it would be a good idea to choose a new name for him. My mum actually chose his name but I think it's lovely. He gets called all sorts of variations of this name though and pretty much responds to anything

What kind of pet is it and what breed?
Cods is a very big dog and his breed is a white GSD. He's absolutely huge, as most whites seem to be, and has a beautiful semi long coat!

How long have you had your pet friend?
We picked Cody up when he was 7 months old and he will be 6 in June, so just gone 5 years.

How did you get your pet?
Before Cody we already had a beautiful Beagle x Lab, Sky, and we wanted another dog for her, and for us. She suffered from a heart condition and onset arthritis so getting the right energy level dog was really important for her. We decided a young pup would be a bit too much for her but we didn't want a dog who was too old either as she still liked to play! When we lived in Dorset we fostered for a lovely rescue called Pound Puppy Animal Rescue, which was also where we got Sky from as a pup. We decided we wanted to have another rescue dog so mum phoned up the rescue and they told us about Cods! We saw the pictures, fell in love and made the trip to Dorset to collect him the next day. Pound Puppies is a fab rescue so if you live in Dorset or Hampshire and are looking to rescue a dog please consider them. Cody was handed in to the rescue at 7 months old and hadn't had a great start in life and it's lovely to know we've give him a forever home.

How old is your pet?
Cody will be 6 in June but still acts like a pup!

What are some quirky things about your pets personality?
Cody is a really well behaved dog so he doesn't really do anything too naughty, apart from trying to steal the pups dinner from time to time! He is a typical GSD though and extremely vocal, don't worry though, his bark means absolutely nothing! He also makes funny crocodile noises when he's playing, barks when you say speak, can give one and two paws on command and wines when it's dinner time. Cody is also a major mud magnet and when he goes on field walks always manages to cover himself in mud from swimming in very dirty ponds. Despite being a boy he is a complete and utter diva and loves being towel rubbed, brushed, bathed and having his hair dried with the hairdryer, even when he's not wet! Oh, and if I sit on the floor he loves to sit on my lap. GSDs don't make comfy lap dogs, haha.

What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?
I adore my dog, he is a part of the family!

What are some of your favourite past times with your pet?
I will be forever grateful to Cody for sparing Sky of pain during her last few hours. On the day that Sky past away she collapsed during the night. Cody woke my mum up during the night and alerted her, he stayed by her side whilst my mum phoned the vet and allowed sky to be relieved if her pain in my mums arms. It may sound like an odd past time to talk about but was a very special thing that he did and it think it show how amazing and intelligent dogs actually are!

What are your nicknames that you call your pet?
Sooo many variations of Cody! In actual fact, I very rarely call his name! I used to call him 'puppy' until we got the new pup and then he was upgraded to 'big boy'. He gets called 'handsome man' quite a lot too!

A little added extra!
Due to Cody's past he is a little weary around strange men and some male dogs and for this reason he wears a yellow ribbon around his lead and collar. The yellow ribbon is for the Yellow Dog project and signifies that he needs a little space from members of the public when out. Dogs may need space for all sorts of reasons such as behavioural issues, recovering from an injury, in training, in season ect. The Yellow Dog project only works in awareness about it is made and the word is spread so please help spread the word and check out the Yellow Dog UK website for more info!

You can follow Cody on Instagram here

I TAG all of you to do this and please send me link if you do it!

First Impressions Review - Bourjous 123 Perfect CC Cream

Hello!

Bourjous 123 Perfect CC Cream

Bourjous 123 Perfect CC Cream

Bourjous 123 Perfect CC Cream

Bourjous 123 Perfect CC Cream

I've suffered from redness on my face for as long as I remember so whenever a new product is released that states that it reduces redness or it's appearance I have to check it out! Bourjois is one of my favourite drug store brands and I adore their Healthy Mix foundation so I was super excited to hear that they were releasing the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream! Bourjois says that this CC cream contains three colour correcting pigments which help to even out skin tone and keeps the skin hydrated. Apricot helps reduce the look of fatigue, green pigments help reduce the appearance of redness and white reduces the appearance of dark spots.

I've called this review a 'first impressions' as I've only used it a couple of times, but I'm going to do an updated review in a month or two. The Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream has been released in four colours and I went for the palest shade, Ivory. This is a good match for me, although it could do with being a tiny bit lighter, but I think it will be a perfect match in the summer. It's possibly a tiny bit too dark for any of you girls out there with very pale skin. The consistency of this product is a lot thinner than most foundations, though I suppose that is to be expected as this technically isn't a foundation. The consistency can be a little difficult to work with but it's easier to get used to. Because of the consistency I found it better to apply using my fingers and it applies beautifully this way. It really helps it sink it to the skin and blends seamlessly. In all honest I wasn't expecting much from the coverage as for my redness I always use higher coverage foundations however, I was pleasantly surprised. It covered all my imperfections well and there was only a small amount of redness creeping through. It wasn't anything that really bothered me very much but it I wanted flawless looking skin I would go for a foundation rather than this CC cream. Although I really like this product so far it's let me down when it comes to my dry skin. I've currently suffering from eczema and dry patches on my face and found this really clung to any of these patches. I found this surprising as Bourjois says it's hydrating but I didn't find this at all. I'm hoping that once my skin is better and the days are warmer it won't cling so badly as I love everything else about it. I will be back with an updated review once it's warmer :)

Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts?

Topshop Wishlist - Spring Monochrome

Hello!

Topshop Wishlist - Monochrome Spring

So it seems like spring is finally here, or at least getting close, and the weather has started to warm up a bit! We've had a few sunny days in Chester and I've even managed to leave the house in some summer flats and my denim jacket without feeling chilly! My wardrobe is definitely in need of updating for spring and summer with a few basic pieces that can be worn in a few different ways for different looks. I'm really loving monochrome at the moment and that definitely reflects in today's wishlist!

My sunglasses from last year somehow managed to get broken over winter so I'm after a new pair or two! Round sunglasses seem to be everywhere at the moment and they've really started to catch my eye. I've never really pushed past wearing aviators as they're kind of my comfort zone but I feel this is the year to step out of that a little...I've even added a cute little hat to my wishlist! I never seem to think I have enough bags (although the evidence says differently!) and I definitely think it's time for a new one. I really love the pattern on the bag above, it's kind of monochrome with a little twist. It looks perfect for beach days and is big enough to fit all the unnecessary stuff I carry around without being too big! You might remember my Topshop treggings from a previous OOTD post (here) and I absolutely loved the fit of them! I decided that I want to try some others and I really live this gingham pattern on the ones pictured. Lastly I really love this simple rose printed tee. It's baggy so great for those days were it's warm but I want to cover up a little and it's really simple. I think it will look great teamed with a necklace and simple denim shorts, or even with the gingham treggings!

Are you wishing over anything from Topshop at the moment?

Review - Lush Brightside Bubblebar

Hello!

Lush Brightside Bubblebar

Lush Brightside Bubblebar

Lush Brightside Bubblebar

I recently attending the NW Bloggers event in Liverpool and was lucky enough to receive an amazing goodie bag which including the Lush Brightside Bubblebar, from their Easter collection. As you may know I'm a huge fan of Lush, their bubble bars in particular, so couldn't wait to give it a go! I think if I hadn't received this bubble bar in a goodie bag I would definitely have bought it anyway as the bright, summery colours and swirly pattern instantly appealed to me!

The Lush Brightside Bubblebar is one of the bigger of the Lush Bubblebars and as always you only need a small amount to create a wonderful bath full of bubbles. I think I only used about 1/8th of this bar and got a fab amount of bubbles from it. Lush describe this bubble bar as containing three citrus essential oils which are Sicilian mandarin, tangerine and bergamot which gives it a wonderful scent. I personally think it smells just like sherbert! It's a lovely, freshing scent and great for this time of year. The bubble bar also gives the bath a lovely peachy tint which is a lovely added touch!

Considering the amount of use you can get out of this bar it's a bargain at £4.50. I really want to try the 'Bunch of Carrots' and 'Golden Egg'.

Have you tried any of the Lush Easter collection yet?

Review - Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious

Hello!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious

I recently fell victim to the Boots 3 for 2 offer and came out of Boots with a small dent in my bank balance. I decided to try out one of the new Revlon Colorburst Balms as although I'd done a lot of swatching since they were released I hadn't yet picked one up, so I took this as my chance! The sun was shining and it was very much a spring day so I went for something a little bright and slightly out of my comfort zone - Audacious

The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious is a lovely, bright coral tone orange and not something I'd usually go for. Although I like bright pinks and reds, oranges are completely out of my comfort zone. However, I was really drawn to this shade and decided to give it a go! On the lips the colour is absolutely beautiful. It's bright although it has a subtle-ness about it that stops it being too 'in your face'. It's the perfect shade for spring and summer and I can see me getting a lot of use out of it! I've been wearing it teamed with a simple eye and bronzed up cheeks, a simple yet summery look!

The formula of this Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm is absolutely lovely. Although it's a matte formula it glides on to the lips with ease and doesn't tug at all, it has a really silk and moisturising feel to it. The pigmentation is also fantastic, with one layer being enough to fully cover the lips. With this product being described as a 'balm' I wasn't sure how much pigmentation they would have but they are absolutely amazing! They also last a wonderful amount of time on the lips. I only had to do a tiny touch up after eating but after having a drink everything was still in place!

This product has definitely lived up to the hype and I can't wait to get my hands on some more! I'm already eying up a few more shades.

Have you tried the Revlon balms yet? What shade would you recommend?

Let's Talk Bourjois!

Hello!

Bourjois Mascara Foundation Powder Lipstick Blush Concealer

Bourjois Foundation Concealer Blush Mascara Lipstick

Bourjois Foundation Primer Lipstick Concealer Mascara Eyeliner

I've got a little bit of a different post for you today! I thought that I try a few posts that talk about a brand as a whole, as well as reviewing individual products and I thought there was no brand better to start with than Bourjois! Bourjois has been one of my favourite drugstore brands for as long as I can remember. When I first started to properly try makeup it was my go to brand and still is to this very day! Although they're one of the higher priced drugstore brands it's still really affordable and great quality.

When I first started using foundation the first one I properly tried was Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect and I used this religiously for a good couple of years or so! I remember picking it out after trawling through Boots for ages swatching foundations. Back then I didn't know much about coverage or matte/dewy effects. The 10 Hour Sleep Effect felt really moistursing and lightweight on my hand and I think for my age and skin type I absolutely made the right choice. It's a really great, lightweight foundation for anyone who wants to even out their skin tone without a heavy covering of makeup. Another foundation I tried from Bourjois was the Bio Detox with I think has since been discontinued. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of this. It was really heavy and left a horrid cakey mess on my face. I think it was just too much for my skin. Finally I came across my current favourite drugstore foundation - Bourjois Healthy Mix! I actually haven't bothered trying another drugstore foundation since. It's just the perfect everyday foundation! It's lightweight with good coverage, has a dewy finish and is perfect for my dry skin. It doesn't last as long as I would like but I can forgive that because of all the other great things it is (am I big-ing it up a little too much, haha!). Since it was release they've changed the formula a little and the packaging and I've loved both. I particularly like the current packaging, it's lovely and girly!

The first powder I ever used from Bourjois was the Mineral Radiance Press Powder, which I used for a good few years along side the 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation and I absolutely adored this combination. It added a little more coverage to the foundation as well as setting the foundation and I remember always being pretty happy with my complexion after applying it. It never good cakey and felt silky smooth. From the Healthy Mix line they also have the Healthy Balanced Pressed Powder which I've swatched millions of times although I've never actually purchased it. It feels super smooth when swatching but also feels a little heavy which has put me off properly trying it. The most recent Bourjois powder I've tried and the one that I'm currently using is the Java Rice Loose Powder. The packaging for the powder is absolutely beautiful and is based on the packaging from it's first release in. It's just so pretty and I love it's vintage look!

When it comes to concealer and Bourjois non ever really took my fancy until the release of the Happy Light Concealer. After reading reviews I knew I had to try it and went straight to Boots. They only have two shades which can be a little annoying but I managed to find one to suit my skin. It's a really great all rounder concealer with a good amount of coverage and it amazingggg at covering those pesky dark circles! Another firm favourite for covering those dark circles is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Under Eye Concealer. This is a really easy to use brush concealer that's super light and barely creases. It's definately another of my firm favourites from Bourjois!

I've tried so many mascaras from Bourjois that I don't even know where to start! Many of my favourites from my teenage years have been discontinued but there are a couple of my firm favourites floating around. I really love the Liner Effect Mascara and I'm sure you can guess from the name exactly what it does! It gives a really lovely effect to the mascara and the 'liner effect' gives the impression of your lashes being really full at the base, lovely! My all time favaourite mascara from Bourjois is Coup de Threatre, which just makes my lashes look really amazing! It gives volume and length and I normally end up getting it when there's a Bourjois offer on. I'm a big fan of the felt liquid liners, as I find them super easy to use, and Bourjois Liner Feautre has never let me down! It glides on easily, has great pigmentation and stays on all day!

Bourjois 'little round pot' blushes are a staple for any girl! They come in the biggest range of colours and the small (yet very cute!) packaging means they can easily be thrown in your bag for retouches! I currently own a lovely shimmery pink, which a great all-round shade, and a shimmery peach which is perfect for the upcoming spring months and works pretty well as a peachy highlight too! Although I've not tried it myself the Delice de Poudre (Chocolate bronzer) seems to be a firm favourite amongst the bloggers and something I need to get my hands on soon!

Last but not least I'm going to chat to you about lipsticks! My first ever lipstick I bought was a lovely coral pink from Bourjois which was actually from the range which is now discontinued. I was genuinely upset when they got rid of that range, however the Rouge and Shine Edition lipsticks are absolutely amazing and Bourjois most definitely haven't let themselves down. The formula is creamy and moisturising, they last well and have a beautiful range of shades. The packing is also very pretty and I'm a sucker for the packing of the Shine Edition! I've heard they're bring out a few more Shine Edition shades and well as the Rouge Edition Velvet which I'm so, so excited for!

What is your favourite Bourjois product? What was your first makeup product?
