Review - Soap & Glory 'A Great Kisser' Lipbalm

Hello!

I have more lipbalms than I care to remember but I never give up the chance to try a new one - a girl can never have too many, right? This was the first lip product I've tried from Soap & Glory and I was really excited to give it a go.

Soap & Glory 'A Great Kisser' Lipbalm

Soap & Glory 'A Great Kisser' Lipbalm

This lovely Soap & Glory A Great Kisser Lipbalm* is in the scent 'juicy peach' and smells absolutely amazing! I'm not a fan of peachy scents but this one is really lovely. It's not too peachy but smells very sweet and girly, possibly more of a general fruity scent than peach. It does comes in a tin form, which I know can put some people off, but I don't really mind with this and the metal tin means it can easily be thrown in your bag without being damaged. I'm also forever looking lipbalm sticks in my bag so I'm hoping this tin will be a little easier to find, haha!

The lipbalm itself is really rich and creamy. I much prefer thicker consistency balms like this as I find they sit on my lips better and don't move around like greasier, thinner balms do. The balm is coloured which adds a very subtle pink sheen to the lips. The amount of colour it adds is much more subtle than a tinted lipbalm but is great to add a little hint of colour and keep the lips moisturised at the same time. It is amazingly glossy though and instantly makes your lips look healthier once applied. I really love the effect it gives to the lips with both the look and with how moisturising it is. I can see the tin lasting a realllyyyy long time but I will definitely be picking up another once I run out. I might even try another scent!

You can pick up this lovely balm from Boots for £5, so it's nice and affordable!

Have you tried the Soap & Glory balms? What are your go to lipbalms?

OOTD - Geometric

Hello!

I'm really enjoying doing OOTD posts and I hope you are enjoying seeing them too! It's a little different for me being in front of the camera rather than behind it, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm still having a little trouble getting the focus right on some of the images but I think I'm slowly and surely improving. The focus is a little out on a couple of the images below but I really liked the photo (minus the awful focus!) so wanted to include them.

Treggings - Topshop
Top - Topshop (Old)
Shoes - Vans

As soon as I saw these 'treggings' in Topshop the other day (not quite trousers, not quite leggings - Am I right?) I knew I had to have them! I don't normal go for anything too patterned on the bottom and tend to keep that for tops and dresses but I just couldn't resist these! They have a lovely velvety feel and such a gorgeous pattern, I particularly like the way they catch the light too. They fit incredibly well and have a lovely snug fit. The zip along the side doesn't just make them really easy to put on and take off but also adds to the look. As I was going to lectures today I teamed the treggings with a really casual top from Topshop and finished the look off with a pair of Vans. I think they would look lovely a little more dressed up though with a pretty blouse, clutch and heels!

What do you think of the treggings? Would you wear them?

Manchester Bloggers Meet - 17/02/2014

Hello!

On Monday I attended a lovely bloggers meet hosted by Georgie from Fairy Gob Mother. It took place in Font bar, Followfield which is on the outskirts of Manchester. Before the event I met up with Fran, Cat, Rachael and Rachael and we then made our way to Font together for the event. I always think it's nice to meet up with other bloggers before hand as it takes the edge off a little bit and helps relax me. If you're going to your first event and feel a little nervous about it I would suggest meeting up with others first or traveling together!

We got to Font for pretty much 7pm on the dot and thought it was a little odd that there didn't seem to be many people there. It didn't take us long to discover that there was actually two Font bars in the Manchester area and we were at the wrong one (Whoops!). So we jumped in a taxi and got taken to the right Font bar, haha! We finally arrived a little late but late is better than never! We also found out that a couple of others had made the same mistake which made us feel a little less silly! The bar had allowed Georgie to hire out the top floor with no fee which was absolutely amazing of them and meant that we had our own little private area for the meet. It was a lovely little meet with about 20 bloggers which gave us all a chance to properly talk to each other and was a lot less over whelming.

After we'd all got a drink (they do £2 cocktails btw!) and had a natter we played blogger style 'play your cards right' and there were a couple of prizes for the winner. We also had a little raffle to raise money for Manchester Animal Shelter and I ended up winning a facial at The 8th Day which I can't wait to have! After some more nattering and drinks @RonIsMagic performed a few of his card tricks and he was utterly amazing. He most certainly has the 'gift of the gab' and his tricks were fabulous! Whilst watching him I was trying to concentrate so hard on his hands to see what was going on but he is so truly talented that nothing was giving it away! His tricks were completely mind blowing and if anyone is genuinely magic, he is! I think it's fair to say we were all very much amazed!

To end the evening we were given goodie bags that contained goodies from The 8th Day, Lush and a huge bottle of Schwarzkopf hairspray. It was such a lovely, relaxed evening and I want to say a big Thank You to Georgie for hosting it!

Dinner at Wagamamas

Hello!

Last night I went to a Manchester bloggers meetup hosted by Georgie and it was absolutely fab! Before the event I met up with Fran, Rachael and Rachael and we had a little bloggers dinner at Wagamamas. I've decided to post about the food and event separately so watch out for the event post in a few days!

This was my first ever time at Wagamamas so naturally I scouted out the menu a few days before hand to see what caught my eye. Being vegetarian I sometimes find that restaurants can be a bit limited when it comes to their range of vegetarian options but this wasn't the case at all! Pretty much every dish they served had a tofu or vegetable option which was lovely! The restaurant was set out in a way that very much reminded me of lunch time at primary school, with rows of tables and benches! We were given the option to sit wherever we fancied which was nice and then given time to choose from the menu. The staff probably thought we were completely antisocial because in typical blogger style we all started taking photos before even looking at the menu, haha! Eventually we all managed to decide on what we wanted to eat and I chose the Yasai Pad Thai which is an egg fried noddle dish with vegetables and tofu. The tofu is fried which makes it really crispy. I also decided to order a side of Miso Soup as I was really curious about and soo glad I did! We were told that as they make each dish fresh to order they might come out the kitchen at different times. This isn't something I'd ever experienced before but it just adds to the quality of the food and there wasn't a great deal of waiting between each arriving.

The food was absolutely delicious! It tasted so fresh and everything was cooked perfectly. I really loved that the vegetables were left a little crispy as it added great texture to the dish. The tofu was crisp but not really oily which I've found it has been from other restaurants. The plate was also piled high and however much I wanted to finished it I physically could not do it. I'm definitely going to be returning in the near future as there is so many things on the menu that I want to try!

Have you been to Wagamamas before? What is your favourite dish?

OOTD - Monochrome Elephant

Hello!

Before I start this post I want to say a big sorry for the quality of the pictures. Being my clumsy self I knocked my lens off my bed and apparently they don't work well once they've been thrown around, haha. Obviously this mean I must go lens shopping soon!

Dress - Newlook
Coat - Allsaints
Boots - Boohoo
As soon as I saw this dress on the Newlook website I knew I had to have it. I really like skater style dresses and the pattern appealed to me straight away. It's a really lovely fit however the sleeves are a little tight so I did end up getting a size bigger than normal. At £12 this dress is a complete bargain and I can't wait til the weather warms up so I can wear it more often!

Do you like skater dresses?

Review - Aveeno Positively Radiant Eye Brightening Cream

Whyyy do they give products such long winded names?

Hello!

Aveeno Positively Radiant Eye Brightening Cream

Aveeno Positively Radiant Eye Brightening Cream

I gave my Aveeno Eye Cream (we'll call it that before I get sick of typing out the whole thing!) a little mention in my recent skincare routine posts and thought I would do a fuller review on it today for those who are interested! Until trying out this cream I had never really looked in to Aveeno, I actually thought all they're products were aimed at bodycare and didn't realise they also did a few skincare goodies! Aveeno aim themselves at dry, sensitive and eczema prone skin which is perfect for me. I will definitely be trying out some more from them in the near future!

The Aveeno Eye Cream comes in a lovely little pump bottle which is great for ensuring you don't get too much product. I find tubes of eye cream can cause me to be a little heavy handed and I always end up with too much product, but the pump on this packing makes it really easy to control. The cream itself is really thick and silky. I always prefer a thicker consistency eye cream. It glides on to the skin with ease and melts in. It leaves my eyes feeling moisturised and smoothed and really brightens them up. I haven't noticed any improvement to my under eye circles but I always think mine are quite bad and I never get enough sleep! Aveeno Eye Cream has a really mild, barely there scent.

I really love this product. I always think eye cream is an investment and an important part of any skincare routine so at £9.99 for 15ml it is definitely a product I would repurchase.

What eye cream are you currently using?

Review - Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara

Hello!

Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara

Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara

Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara
Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara

Since I discovered Soap & Glory's Thick and Fast mascara just over a year ago I actually haven't used any other mascara! I think I could even give it holy grail status! I first tried it after receiving it in a Soap & Glory Christmas set and was a little skeptical at first as I wasn't a fan of bristle type mascara brushes. Anyway I gave it a go and absolutely loved it! It was also the first ever product I'd tried from the Soap & Glory makeup range and it really opened up my eyes to how fantastic their range is. So far I've tried their mascaras, liquid liners, eye liners and a few of their powders. They are fantastic quality!

Before
After

I have quite sparse, light coloured lashes so I always look for mascara with good pigmentation that can add length and volume. This one ticks all those boxes! The brush is really easy to use and always applies just the right amount of product. After one coat my lashes are a great length, full of volume and no longer invisible! I normally apply two coats just to add extra volume and have never had a problem with clumping or lashes sticking together. I do suggest that you make sure the first layer has dried before going in with the second though, just to ensure no clumping. This Soap & Glory mascara lasts really well throughout the day and my lashes still look great at the end of the day. Retailing at £10 it is on the pricey end of drug store mascaras but I think it's worth every penny!

Have you tried this mascara? What is your favourite mascara?

Review - Rimmel Moisture Renew Transparent Lipliner

Hello!

Today I have a little bit of a disappointing review for you so before we get in to things, if you don't like negative reviews, click away now!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Transparent Lipliner

Rimmel Moisture Renew Transparent Lipliner

Rimmel Moisture Renew Transparent Lipliner

When I first heard about the release of the Rimmel Transparent lipliner I was really excited! I never really bother with lipliners as I have so many lipsticks in so many different shades that I find buying different lipliner shades a bit of a pain. I understand the benefits of them but buying one every time I buy a new lipstick just isn't for me. This is why I was so excited to find a high street brand were bringing out a lipliner that would suit all lipstick shades! I do have an issue with some of my darker shades bleeding out after a few hours wear so I was hoping this product would solve the problem.

The first issue I had with this product was how difficult it was to apply. I have enough trouble keeping the edges of my lips smooth when applying lipstick, let alone with a liner that has no colour. You pretty much can't see what your doing with this product as it (obviously) doesn't show up so you've just got to go for it and hope for the best! The second issue I had with this product was that I didn't find it moistursing at all. I've tried the moisture renew lipsticks and find them super hydrating but the liner is just no comparison at all. Lastly I didn't find it helped with preventing the lipstick from bleeding out throughout the day at all. The only positive point I can take from this product is that it did help the lipstick stay on a little longer. Although a universal lipliner is a lovely idea this one just doesn't seem to work in practice.

Have you bought a disappointing product recently? Can you recommend any other universal lipliners?

F&F Valentine

Hello!
F&F Valentine

Last week I received a lovely email asking me to be an F&F Valentine* and yesterday I received a lovely valentines treat box! The boxed contained not only a set of F&F lingerie but also Essie nail polish, Soap & Glory goodies and some Hotel Chocolat treats!

F&F Lingerie Monique Animal Print

F&F Lingerie Monique Animal Print

F&F Lingerie Monique Animal Print

F&F Lingerie Monique Animal Print

When it comes to lingerie I honestly only own about 1 or 2 actual matching sets, just because I always find them a little pricey and not student budget friendly. It's always nice to own some pretty underwear (even if it's just for yourself!) to make you feel pretty and girlie and I was pleasantly surprised by the prices of the F&F sets! The set I chose is called the 'Monique Animal Print' and comes to a total of £11 for the set, which is a complete bargain, especially compared to some shops which charge £30+! The bra is a bargain £8 and the bottoms are £3, but they definitely look and feel a lot more expensive! The set it really beautiful, combining both lace and satin for a really pretty look. The addition of the little bow and ribbon threading through the lace is a really lovely touch. The set has a really girlie yet grownup look and is such a great fit! I'm always a little worried when buying over the internet as sizes differ but these are really true to size. The range of F&F lingerie is great and they have plenty of designs to suit different figures and styles. All the sets can be found here and there are some really beautiful designs!

Hotel Chocolat Strawberry White Chocolate Heart

Hotel Chocolat Heart

F&F Valentine

The extra treats added to my valentines box was such a lovely touch and surprise! I can't wait to get stuck in to the chocolates! White chocolate is a favourite of mine and what girl doesn't like truffles?! The nail polish colours are all lovely and great for the coming spring and summer months! I have never really tried Essie so I'm excited to get using them! Soap and Glory is one of my favourite drug store brands so receiving any of their goodies is always a bonus! The lip balm smells devine!

Have you bought lingerie from F&F? Are you going to be having a look?

Review - KMS California Silk Sheen Polishing Serum

Hello!

Gosh, that product name isn't half a mouthful! Today I have a review for you of one of the best serums I have honestly ever used! (Possible HG status?!) I'm a big fan of a good hair serum and a frequent user. I love using them both when I leave my hair in its natural curly state and after using my curling wand to add shine and tame any fly aways. There's a few things I want from a serum and I'm sure you'll agree with me on this! I want a lightweight serum that doesn't leave your hair looking greasy but adds shine and tames frizz. This one by KMS California definitely doesn't disappoint!
KMS California Silk Sheen Polishing Serum

KMS California Silk Sheen Polishing Serum

KMS California Silk Sheen Polishing Serum

The serum is a thick clear liquid, rather than a cream like some of them are. I prefer the thicker consistency as I just find it easier to work with and it doesn't end up running all over the place! I have really long hair and find that one pump is enough to distribute through my mid lengths and ends. The effect you get with this lovely serum is amazing and you can instantly see the frizz being tamed and shine being added! After using some serums my hair can feel a little 'sticky' the next day but when using this one it doesn't happen at all and even through the consistency is thick it's really lightweight on the hair. I also love that the bottle is small enough to throw in your bag for any days where you think humidity might get the better of you!

If you want a hair serum that does exactly what it says then I'd really suggest give the KMS California Silk Sheen Polish Serum* ago! It's available from Look Fantastic for £13.50 and worth every penny! I've been using it frequently for a good few months and still have a little bit left! It does suggest using it on towel dried hair but I've been using it after hair drying and it works perfectly like that.

Have you tried anything by KMS California? Would you suggest any of there other ranges?
