The Christmas TAG // #bigblogmasproject

  #bigblogmasproject day 3

Hello!
Source
I decided to do this lovely Christmas TAG today as I don't want to (nor do I plan to) do 24 days of reviews as I'm sure you would all get very bored of that. I got this lovely tag from another blogger who is also doing the #bigblogmasproject. I would love for you to take a look at her blog here.
I would also really like you to comment on this post with any Christmassy posts you would like to see on the run up til Christmas!

1.  Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?

When I was very, very little I remember having a real tree but that must have been about 16 years ago! Ever since we started owning dogs as pets we switch to synthetic because of the needles and it just generally being safer for the dogs. I love the smell of a real tree but a good old Yankee candle fixes that!

2.  You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick?
I will most likely be in Starbucks and get my usual - a skinny caramel mac! In the summer I usual get the iced version and as the days get colder I go for the hot one. I'm not a fan of the Christmas drinks at Starbucks and I don't really like hot chocolate either. I really want to try an Eggnog latte though!

3.  Whats your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
I like red and gold. They're classic Christmas colours that never get old!

4.  Giving or receiving?
I love giving presents but anyone that says they don't enjoy receiving present is telling a lie! I find it really hard to buy presents while being a student and I have a fairly tight budget but I do the best I can and love exchanging the gifts!

5.  To mince pie or not to?
I used to really love mince pies and now I really hate them! I have no idea why. I probably ate too many one year. I would really like to start liking them again though because they're a classic Christmas treat.

6.  What's your traditional Sunday lunch?
Being vegetarian my Sunday lunch doesn't contain the traditional meats but I normally substitute them with a nut roast (I love nut roast) or a variety of Quorn roast. Christmas day naturally calls for both though! I then have the usual veg, stuffing and a couple of potatoes as I'm not a huge fan of them. I do love the traditional trimmings like roast parsnips. Yum!

7.  Christmas day fashion
This changes each year. Some years I just feel lazy and go for lazy clothes, basic hair and makeup. Others I dress up a little more. This year I would like to wear a pretty dress, do my hair and full makeup. Of course this is an excuse for dress shopping!

8.  What's your favourite Christmas song?
I'm not really a fan of Christmas music because I find it a little cheesy (unpopular opinion, I know!). I can't really pinpoint a favourite song because of this but hearing any Christmas music puts me in the festive spirit.
9.  What's your favourite Christmas film?
Oh there's sooo many! ELF has to be top of my list though, I watch it every Christmas without fail. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory are always on my list of must watch films at Christmas too.

10.  Open presents before or after lunch?
Presents off immediate family are always opened before Lunch but any others generally depend on the plan for the day. There is normally a few left to open after lunch off various people.
I TAG all the lovely bloggers taking part in the #bigblogmasproject to take part in this tag!

Review - Lush Cinders Bathbomb

#bigblogmasproject day 2

Hello!

Lush Cinders Bathbomb

Lush Cinders Bathbomb

Lush Cinders Bathbomb

You may remember the Cinder Bathbomb from my recent Lush Christmas haul. The Cinders bathbomb is from their Christmas collection and is one of the smaller of the collection, perfect for when you want to relax but haven't got too much time! The bathbomb is an light orange/yellow colour and the front contains a cluster of red popping candy.

The mixture of almond oil, orange and cinnamon gives a perfect fruity scent which smells just like Christmas, so if you're after the perfect festive bathbomb this is a great one to go for. Cinnamon isn't a scent I like but in this is works really well in this and blends in really nicely with the other scents.

When placed in the water it activates really quickly. It actually was too quick for my to take a proper picture of it! Within 3 minutes the whole thing had been dissolved in to the water creating a heavily scented yellow coloured bath water. There is popping candy hidden throughout the bathbomb which continues to crackled for a good while after the bathbomb has dissolved.

The bathbomb is really lovely and makes your skin feel really soft for a good while after the bath. I love how the scent lingers on the skin and even within the bathroom. The popping candy is a lovely touch to such a festive treat, especially combined with such a festive scent. The only downside to it was that the bathbomb dissolved so quickly.

Cinders is £2.45 and available in Lush throughout the festive season.

Have you tried this bathbomb? What is your favourite festive Lush product?

NYX Wishlist // #bigblogmasproject

#bigblogmasproject day 1

Hello!

I'm forever browsing the NYX website and lusting over their products. I'm yet to actually try any of their products yet but very much hoping that will change soon! I get a little put off buying makeup online because I can't swatch and test out the products before I commit to buying them but there are so many reviews and swatches from other bloggers that I really shouldn't let it put me off. Here is the products that are top of my wishlist...

Beautysets - NYX Wishlist

The Soft Matte Lip Cream is a product I have been intrigued by and really want to try out. I hate lipgloss because of it's stickiness and how it feels on my lips but love matte lipstick. I can imagine this product being a bit like a matte version of the Rimmel Apocolips which I think I would like. I'm really liking the look of the shades Monte Carlo and Istanbul. I've seen a lot of good reviews on the HD Concleaner, especially when it comes to hiding under eye circles. I really like that it comes in green, yellow and pink tints too so you can find the one that suits your skin tone the best. The Love in Paris eyeshadow palette contains 9 really pretty shades. It comes in a few different looks and all are really great for both day and night looks. I'm really liking the look of the warmer nude shades and of course the glitter for Christmas! Another eye shadow palette I love the look of is the Smokey Eyes eyeshadow palette which contains the perfect shades for a smokey eye look. I don't normally go for purples and blues but I'm trying to venture out of my comfort zone a bit. This is perfect to do that! Last but not least is the NYX Powder Blush which I've seen tonnes of great reviews for! There are so many great shades that it's hard to pick so any suggestions will be appreciated!

Have you tried any NYX products? What's on your wishlist?

Review - Bourjois Java Rice Powder

Hello!

Review of Bourjois Java Rice Powder

Bourjois Java Rice Powder

It's no secret that Bourjois have been bringing out some pretty amazing products lately. They just never fail to please! I was so, so excited when I heard about the release of this powder and after reading reviews from the bigger bloggers I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Unfortunately it took me a few trips to Boots before I finally got my hands on it, as it seemed to be pretty popular, but I couldn't wait to try it out as soon as I did! This product is a reformulation of the original product that was released 150 years ago to celebrate this anniversary. It was a very popular product back in it's day and seems to be pleasing many yet again!

First of all I love the packaging and the vintage style design on the front, taking you back to when the Bourjois Java Powder was first released 150 years ago! The only problem with the packaging is that it can be a little problematic to travel with because the inner design and it being a loose powder. It just gets a little messy inside which isn't ideal but isn't a huge problem.

This is the first loose powder I have ever used so I wasn't really sure what to expect but I do really like it after getting past the messiness of it! When you open it is does look like there is a huge amount of shimmer in there but it doesn't transfer to the face like this at all. The shimmer spreads out and just creates a lovely glow to the face without making your face look like a glitter ball. The powder is also really light which I love. It just makes the skin look perfect and glowy which is really great for this time of year when the weather can make your skin look a little dull. My favourite way of using this powder is to set under eye concealer which is something it does really well and brightens up the eye area.

Being quite a light powder it probably won't work well for those with oily skin but it works really well on my dry skin. I also find it works better if you use a smaller powder brush as it fits in the packaging better and just applies the product better as well. I'm so glad I purchased this product and I definitely think it's worth the money!

Have you tried this powder?

Cleansing Oil... To Wash Brushes?

Hello!

The other day I was carrying out my usual fortnightly brush cleaning routine. I was using my usual brush cleaning product, which actually isn't a brush cleaning product at all, the Aussie Mega Shampoo. I love this to clean my brushes as it really shifts all the product from deep in the brushes as well as leaving them soft and smelling lovely! However, it's no secret that foundation can be an utter pain to clean off brushes, particularly if you use a heavier or full coverage foundation, and whilst washing my brushes the other day I just couldn't get all the foundation to clean off the brush. I washed and left my foundation brush to dry twice but it ended up not looking any cleaner than when I started.

Cleansing Oil... To Wash Brushes?

Cleansing Oil... To Wash Brushes?

I then had a thought and decided to carry out a bit of trail and error, which luckily worked out very well. I used my current cleansing oil (which is amazing at melting away makeup from the face) on my foundation brush in hope it would help to clean it up a bit better than what I had already done. Luckily it worked (yay!) and after a couple of pumps of the oil on to the brush the foundation melted off. After washing off the oil I also washed the brush with my usual cleaner to remove the all the excess and the brush looked as good as new! I know this method might not worked for everyone but I found it worked so, so well for me! I really like having products that have multiple and/or alternative uses and this is a great example of one. Saves me splashing out of makeup brush cleansers!

Do you have any brush washing tips?

Review - Lush Bubblegum Lipscrub

Hello!

Lush Bubblegum Lipscrub

Lush Bubblegum Lipscrub

Lush Bubblegum Lipscrub

Lush Bubblegum Lipscrub

This little product caught my eye when I was at the til purchasing my recent Lush haul! I always get sucked in by lovely products surrounding the til in Lush and after seeing this a few times and not getting it I thought it was about time I gave it a go! They have a few different scents but the Bubblegum scent was the one that appealed to me the most. I have really dry lips and an awful habit of biting and picking my lips (gross, I know!) so I thought this was a product I would really benefit from using!

It's such as easy product to use. You literally dip your finger in the pot, rub a little all over your lips and lick of the excess. You can of course use a face cloth to remove the excess if licking it off isn't for you. The lipscrubs are all flavoured with the scent that you choose so they all taste yummy!

I think it works well at removing excess dry skin but it does need to be followed by a good moisturising lipbalm to ensure the lips don't get dry. I've been using it nearly every day and I think it's working well so far. It's such an essential for these cold winter days when your lips really suffer.

This product is £5.50 from Lush and they also have a Cola Christmas scent at the moment called Santa.

Have you tried the Lush Lipscrub?

Review - Superdrug Coconut & Shea Butter Body Polish

Hello!

You might remember this product from one of my 'Products I've Been Reaching For' posts a few months back and I thought it was about time I gave a full review on this absolutely lovely product! It's not very often I venture in to Superdrug, as I am much more of a Boots girl, but I'm so glad I found this product. I adore body scrubs and this one is definitely one of my favourites so far!

Superdrug Coconut & Shea Butter Body Polish

Superdrug Coconut & Shea Butter Body Polish

Superdrug Coconut & Shea Butter Body Polish

The scent of this body scrub is absolutely delightful! The sweet coconut and shea butter scent is always one of my favourites and I think it's such a girly scent without being too sweetly overpowering. It also smells really creamy and is just lovely! It reminds me a lot of summer which is a great pick me up on these gloomy winter days!

This scrub is one of the most moisturising I have ever used! It's ever so creamy and exfoliates without leaving your skin feeling dry or tight. I also love that it works so well without feeling overly abrasive. I hate scrubs that are really scratchy and this doesn't do that at all. It just feels so creamy and soft against the skin and does everything that it needs to do - there's not much more I could ask from it! It leaves your skins feeling soft, moisturised and not forgetting the lovely scent.

The product comes in a little tub which contains 200ml. It can be a little difficult to use in the shower, especially with wet hands, but you can get past this by loosening the lid a little before you get in the shower. Superdrug also do a Coconut and Shea Butter Body Butter which I really recommend trying.

Have you tried this product? What is your favourite body scrub?

Review - Benefit Rockateur Blush

Hello!

I have no idea why it's taken me so long to write this review because I cannot get enough of this blush! I've got quite a vast collection of blushes but none of them have been a 'go to' blush for me...until now! This blush is just the perfect colour with just the right amount of glow for any occasion. I love it! I first heard about it at a Bloggers event about a month before it launched. We all got a chance to try it out and I loved it! It's the first Benefit blush I've ever wanted to buy as I find the other colours aren't quite 'me'.
Benefit Rockateur Blush

Benefit Rockateur Blush

Benefit Rockateur Blush

Benefit Rockateur Blush

I'm really impressed with the packaging of Benefit blush as it's really sturdy and the magnet ensures the lid stays in place. It's also the perfect size for chucking in your bag or traveling with. The packaging of it is so pretty, not to mention how pretty the little pattern is on the top of the blush! I'm a sucker for pretty packaging and products.

I know a few people have been a little annoyed that this particular blush doesn't contain as much product as previous Benefit blushes but this doesn't bother me too much. I did read that this is due to them using a different formula, creating a softer blush that will crack if packed to thickly. How true this is I'm not entirely sure on.

The colour of the blush is just perfect for me and I think it really suits my skintone. It's a lovely pinky colour with tones of peach and purple. It also contains shimmer which isn't over powering but adds a lovely glow to the skin. It creates a really healthy and glowing look to the skin. The colour is so versatile and suits a variety of different looks. I find this really good as it means when traveling I can just pack one blush as not need to worry. It can be worn subtly or more built up depending on the look your going for. When wearing this blush during the day I have been avoiding using highlighter as I think this blush does the perfect job on it's own, but going for a small hint of highlighter for evening looks.

For £23 this blush is a little pricey and a lot more than I would normally spend on a blush but I'm so glad I bought it. It's such a pretty blush and a lovely versatile shade. Considering I use it nearly everyday it's hardly got a dint in it and I can see it lasting a very long time!

Have you tried a Benefit blush? Which is your favourite?

Lush Christmas Haul

Hello!

After seeing Lush's Christmas and Halloween stock I couldn't help but spend a few pennies and pick a few things up. I'd also seen a few reviews from other bloggers which helped convince me that I needed to part with some money and buy myself some goodies! I bought the Lush Candy Mountain bubble bar a few weeks ago (review here) and was super impressed with it, so I knew their other Christmas stock wouldn't let me down! I did the haul in two parts, one online and one straight from the store, as I wanted a facemask and wasn't sure about getting it delivered. This was the first time I had ordered from Lush online and was really impressed. It arrived within good time and was very well packaged. They even chucked in a nice little sample!

The first thing I knew I had to get was the Lord of Misrule ballistic (£3.30) I had seen this reviewed on other blogs and it looked fantastic. It makes such a pretty pattern in the bath and smells so lovely! Next up was the Cinders ballistic (£2.45) which isn't a scent I'd usually go for but I thought I'd give it a go. After trying the Candy Mountain bubble bar I knew I had to try another Christmas one so I went for The Christmas Penguin (£2.95). How cute is he?! He smells so lovely but I don't know if I can brave snapping a bit off him. Definitely will have to get another of these! Another seasonal product that I got (and forgot to photograph!) was the Sugar Fair Scrub (which I cannot find on their site anymore!) I decided to get this as I love body scrubs but have never tried a Lush one before. The next two items I got in store. The first is the Love Lettuce facemask (£5.95) which is a lovely exfoliating facemask. The next is the Lipscrub (£5.50) that is something I've always been intrigued by. They always have these right by the till and this time I couldn't help but give it a go!

Have you tried any of the Lush Christmas stock? What is your go to Lush product?

Review - Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP

Hello!
Ever since the release of the Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow* I've been intrigued by them but unfortunately I could never justify spending £15.50 on one eyeshadow shade - especially on a student budget! I was really excited when I saw this little gem in my goodie bag and an event a couple of months ago!

Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP

Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP

Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP

Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP

RSVP is such a great, versatile shade that looks great on it's own or as a base for powder eyeshadows. Once blended out on the lid it looks a lot lighter than in the pan and is a lovely shimmery shade with tones of pink. It's not a bold colour but adds a little bit of something to the eye for a natural and subtle look. It works really well as a single shade, brightening and opening up the eye, but is also a great base for neutral eyeshadow shades.

I've been applying it using my finger and then blending it out with a buffing brush which I find works really well. It also layers really well using this method so you can get your desired coverage really easily. Although this eyeshadow is said to be 'creaseless' I have found it to crease on some occasions. Not in a way that is overly noticeable, but still noticeable none the less. It is however really easy to blend back out again so if this does happen a quick sweep over the eyelid will sort it out! When use as a base for powder eyeshadows it's great! It keeps the shadow in place without letting it crease and also allows for easy blending of the colours. Before trying this product I thought £15.50 was a little too much for a single eyeshadow but after trying it and becoming aware of it being great not only as a single eyeshadow, but also as a base colour, I think I would happily purchase another shade!

Have you tried this or any other shade from this range?

Review - Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

Hello!

I'm a hugggeeee fan of Lush, particularly their bath bombs and bubble bars. As soon as I heard their Christmas stock had appeared I knew I had to pop in to my local Lush and see what treats they had come up with. Candy Mountain caught my eye immediately. It's pink, glittery and smells divine! A lovely, girly bubble bar. I kept it tucked away in my room for a few days after purchasing it and the scent made my room smell great!
Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

This bubble bar contains vanilla and the overall scent is really sweat, girly and kind of reminds me of love heart sweets (though I could be completely wrong!). The pink colour of the bubble bar transfers in to the water to create a very subtle pink tone to the water and bubbles. The glitter doesn't at all transfer in to the water so if you're a bit scared of coming out the bath looking like a glitter ball there is no chance of this.

I'm never sure how much bubble bar you're meant to use per bath, but I normally manage to make it last about 5-6 baths and this gives enough bubbles for me. I snapped the top peak of this bubble bar and crumbled it under the hot tap. It gave a lovely layer of subtle pink bubbles that lasted the entire bath, not to mention the lovely scent that filled the entire bathroom!

This bubble bar costs £2.65 which is an absolute bargain! I will definitely be purchasing another and keeping myself stocked up on it for as long as possible!

Have you taken a peek and the Lush Christmas stock yet?

Review - Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

Hello!

I normally remove my eye makeup remover with my normal cleanser but thought I'd try an eye makeup remover for the more stubborn eye makeup and times when I'm wearing rather heavy makeup, just to make the cleansing process a little easier. I picked up this Nivea product as it was reasonably priced and I was intrigued by the two layers. The product packaging stated that it was suitable for all skin types which suited me lovely!
Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

One of the layers is oil based which helps to remove and breakdown waterproof makeup. The other layer is water based and this helps to remove the makeup and prevent the product leaving an oily feel behind. The first thing I noticed when using this product was how difficult is water to mix the layers together. It takes quite a lot of force to get them mixed properly but I'm sure it's great for the bingo wings! You also need to remix it in between each cotton pad as it separates really quickly and this can be a bit of a pain.

In terms of how effective it is does seem to depend on what eye makeup I'm wearing. Eyeshadow washes straight off but mascara, liquid and pencil eyeliners can take a bit of work. Even after using this product there can be some mascara residue left over. It does however leave a lovely soft eye area and no oily residue but, in all honesty, I think my normal cleanser is more effective than this which is a bit of a shame. I don't think I will repurchase this product but I will continue using it just to remove the bulk of my eye makeup before going in with the cleanser.

The bottle contains 125ml of product for £3.59 which should last a good couple of months.

What is your favourite eye makeup remover? Have you tried this one?

A little Mac purchase

Hello!

The other day I popped to my local Mac counter to pick up one of the lipsticks from the Retro Matte collection. Unfortunately the colour I wanted was out of stock so as soon as I got home I nipped on my laptop to check if it was still available online. Luckily it was (yay!), but then came the dilemma of deciding whether to pay for delivery or buy two lipsticks and getting free delivery. After talking to a couple of bloggers and obviously came to the decision to buy two lipsticks which meant picking my second lipstick. My Mac lipstick wishlist is hugee right now but I finally picked Chatterbox as I'm currently loving pinky lipsticks right now. I think they look so lovely teamed with a smokey eye for a night out or to add a pop of colour during the day. The shade I picked from the Retro Matte collection was Flat Out Fabulous which is a lovely deep pinky purple colour which will look great during fall and winter but will still be easy to wear during summer.

Have you bought anything from Mac lately?

Review - Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick 24

 Hello!

So a few weeks ago I was browsing Boots and picked up this lipstick on a bit of a whim as I think there was some sort of offer on. I had had my eye on the Bourjois Shine Edition Lipsticks for a while as the packaging looked so lovely but hadn't decided on a shade. The shade I ended up going for was 24, it's a lovely raspberry pink with a hint of purple to it. It's a great every day shade as it's quite subtle so goes with quite a few looks. The colour is great as it is light enough for a lovely summer look but will also look great in the colder months too. I've been wearing it a lot to lectures to add a little bit of colour without looking over the top!

Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick 24

Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick 24

Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick 24

Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick 24

I love the packaging and far prefer it to the Rouge Edition Lipstick packaging. The mirrored effect makes it looks a lot more expensive and looks great amongst your lipstick collection. I also like the way Bourjois have added the shade colour to the bottom of the bullet as it makes it super easy to find the colour in the morning.

The lipstick itself is super moisturing which is great. I haven't been using lipbalm under the lipstick because I just haven't had to. When applied it looks really shiny and healthy. Although I haven't tried the Revlon Lip Butters this very much reminds me of them. The colour is quite sheer, which is something I don't usually go for, but with this shade it works for me. You can build the colour up quite well also which is great. The colour lasts really well but being quite glossy you do have to reapply after eating and drinking, although this really isn't a problem. It currently retails for £7.99 but is on offer in Boots atm!
After try this I can't wait to get my hand on some others from this collection.

Have you tried them? What colours do you recommend?

A Little Update!

Hello! I haven't done an update post for a while so I thought the blog was due one and it also gives me a chance to explain where I've been this week!

So, last week I moved back to Chester for my third year of uni. I'd already had my keys for about a month as I'd moved from another house in Chester, but last week was me officially moving in! Being my normal self I left packing all my stuff up til the last minute which was really stressful. I never realise how much stuff I have until I have to pack it all up. I have a huge Soap & Glory bag full of just hair stuff, one full of body stuff and then one of those 'bags for life' full of skincare. I'm most definitely one of those 'pack it just in case' types of people. Not to mention I had to sit on my suitcase whilst I zipped it up because it was so jam packed. I also couldn't decide what makeup to bring so just packed all my muji drawers and brought it all, haha!

So I packed the car up and arrived at the house to find there was no internet! Me and my housemates fiddled with the router a bit but couldn't get it to work so decided we would need to phone the internet company up. It was a Saturday evening so we had to wait til Monday and when we finally rang them they told us that the external line was broke so we would have to wait for them to repair it :( 4 days later we finally had internet back! I had a few blog posts planned for this week which I obviously couldn't write up and I couldn't watch catchup tv either (student essential, obviously!) It's actually slightly worrying how much I missed the internet, haha!

I've nearly finished unpacking so I'm hoping to get a room tour post up soon and I have some lipstick, haircare and skincare posts planned too! I was really annoyed about being so absent from my blog this past week but will be getting a post up tomorrow, yay!

If you aren't already please give me a follow over on Bloglovin here

Review - Nivea In shower Body Moisturiser

Hello!

I'm sure you'll all agree with me when I say I find moisturising my body a real chore and is something I hardly ever do. I find it time consuming and it leaves you feeling a little sticky which isn't nice, whether you're putting on PJs or are off out for a day. Let's not forget how much we all hate it during the colder months when you just want to hop out the shower and put your robe on, not stand around applying cream!

Nivea In shower Body Moisturiser

Nivea In shower Body Moisturiser

Nivea In shower Body Moisturiser

Nivea In shower Body Moisturiser

When I first saw Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser advertised on the TV I knew I had to try it and even more so when I saw it on offer in Boots, haha. It comes in two different forms; white bottle is normal skin, blue bottle dry skin. At the time of purchase I didn't actually know this so just picked up the first one I saw which happened to be the normal skin formula but surely it's better than none at all? It's so, so easy to use! You basically just carry out all your usual shower activities and then apply the product all over your body as you would with normal moisturiser. I normally spend a couple of minutes rubbing it in so I can absorb as much as possible. You then just rinse it off and voila! Your done!

The product doesn't have a noticeable scent which I think is nice especially if you use a heavily scented shower gel. The consistency is similar to that of hair conditioner and rubs in really well. I use about half a palm full of the product for my entire body and it spreads really well. I was worried about it running out quite quickly but this isn't the case at all. I was really surprised at how well the product works. It left my skin feeling really soft but not at all greasy, just silky smooth! I particually like using this product on my legs after I've shaved as it feels really soothing and makes them feel extra soft. Will I be repurchasing this product...yes! It comes in two sizes which are 400ml (£5.10) and 250ml (£3.50) but the 400ml is currently on offer in Boots for £3!!

Do you find moisturising a chore? Have you tried this product?

Review - John Freda Sheer Blonde Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner

Hello!

Well that's a mouthful of a tile, isn't it! So you might be wondering why a brunette blogger is reviewing a shampoo and conditioner for blonde hair? I recently did my hair ombre style and bleached a lot more of my hair than I did last time. I first did it about a year ago, using an ordinary bleaching kit (which by the way is so much easier than the new ombre kits!) and have just redone it because it had kind of disappeared due to cutting the ends and dying the top half of my hair. Because of the natural tones of my hair and the dye that was on some of it I always get a brassiness after bleaching which I don't really like so try to you products to reduce this. Anyway enough of my rambling and hair stories, more reviewing!

John Freda Sheer Blonde Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner

John Freda Sheer Blonde Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner

John Freda Sheer Blonde Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner

John Freda Sheer Blonde Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner

So I went for a wonder and a hunt for some Touch of Silver and instead came across John Freda and thought I might as well give it ago! First of all I adore the packaging, the purple just draws me in straight away. I'm a sucker for good packaging! The products both smell really nice. They're kind of fruity but with the typical salon scent and not at all overpowering, just enough so that your hair smells fresh and clean. Both the products are purple, with the shampoo being a deeper purple, and it's these violet tones which help to neutralise the brassiness. The shampoo is said to help with neutralising the brassiness whilst the conditioner helps to protect the blonde, keeping it soft and healthy, so it's really best to use them together to get the best results.

Before using the products I always wash my hair all over with my usual shampoo just to make sure it's clean and remove any products. I then go in with the tone correcting shampoo just on the bleached parts, massaging it in to my hair for a good 3-4 minutes before washing it off. I carry out the same routine with the conditioner however I leave it on until I've finished doing everything else in the shower.

Once out the shower my hair felt really imaginable and easy to brush through. After I'd dried it the ends were obviously brighter and more of a true blonde! My mum even commented saying it looked blonder and brighter. It looked even better after the second time using the products too! It states to use the products 2-3 times a week so I've been using them for every wash. The shampoo and conditioner retail for £5.99 each in Boots and you get 250ml of product. I will most definitely be repurchasing this product as it works so well!

Have you tried this or anything else from the Sheer Blonde range? What other toners would you recommend?
