Review - YSL False Lash Effect Mascara

Hello!

I'm a member of WIMH (What's in my handbag) and a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive my first sample from them! First of all I must applauded WIMH, their delivery was super quick! The sample was well packaged in a lovely box and presented very nicely. It even had a sticker saying 'To Kelsey Shepherd' which gave it an extra personal touch!

I was super excited to try out this mascara as I love false lash effect mascaras!
I'm the sort of girl who will find a mascara she loves and stick to it, rather than trying a new one every time I run out. Although I will occasionally try mascaras with an introductory offer, I tend to stick to ones with rubber brushes and always go back to my current mascara! Saying this, it definitely did not put me off being excited to try the YSL mascara, and I was excited to try out a brush that wasn't rubber!

My naked lashes are quite thin so I love mascaras that give them volume. They also go very light towards the ends meaning it's important that I get good coverage from the mascara!

Lashes without product

The first thing I noticed upon opening the mascara was the constistancy, it wasn't too thin yet wasn't to thick. It seemed that just the right amount of product came out with the brush and the the brush didn't appear clogged up or clumpy.

The YSL mascara goes on very easily. It coated my lashes well without adding any clumps. I also found that it separated my lashes well which makes them look fuller. The only thing I found difficult about the application was using the sample size, as the wand was shorter it wasn't as easy to apply, but obviously this wouldn't be an issue with the full sized product. As well as coating my lashes well and providing a good coverage I found that the product also had good staying power! After wearing it for a good 6 hours it still looked very much in tact and I didn't feel the need to touch it up at all.

Lashes after product is applied

I really liked this product and it has great staying power. My only complaint is that I found it had the same effect on my lashes as my current mascara, so for me paying out the retail price (£23) wouldn't be worth it. However, it has encouraged my to try other mascaras that don't have a rubber brush and if I wasn't a student living on a budget I would be inclined to buy the full sized product to see how I got on.
